Personal Summary

I am quick learner with a high logical aptitude and a vast array of experience over many years in many technologies. I am confident I can perform well in any job and utilize my knowledge and skills to provide a rewarding experience for myself, the company and the customers.

I have worked as a Computer Programmer, Computer Technician, Electronics Technician and Electrical Apprentice for many years.

I am an approved Mentive Mentor for UC Berkeley's course Agile Development using Ruby on Rails, Harvard's CS50 Introduction to Computer Science, MIT's 6.00 Introduction to Computer Science and a Java Programming Course. My time as a mentor has been rewarding as I have seen students I have helped go on to start some great careers.

I also volunteered as a World Teaching Assistant for the UC Berkeley course and helped to facilitate the online course. I helped to make the course materials available at proper times, fixed issues that arose and helped students with many issues.

I also have an Electronics Technician Diploma, I am A+ certified and have passed about 80 online courses in a wide range of coding topics. Some of these topics include dealing with legacy applications, Object Oriented Programming, Agile Methodology, Ruby on Rails, mobile programming, Python, C++, C#, Java, HTML, CSS, JS and much more.

Work Experience

Mentive - Online

CODING MENTOR   2015 - present
Lead a one hour teaching session once a week for several weeks. The number of weeks per session depended on the course. Assisted students from all over the world in understanding the course concepts. This included both theoretical and practical training. Also offered help through email, Google Groups and Pair Programming.

Duties:

  • Create weekly lessons and activities
  • Assist students with learning the topics
  • Facilitate an online classroom of sudents
  • Answer questions posed by the students

United Tote - Nova Scotia

ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN   2008 - present
I service and maintain betting terminals, network equipment and other electronic devices for Truro Raceway and their OTBs. I also make trips to other tracks in the maritimes at the start of the season and as needed.

Duties:

  • Maintain and repair electronics
  • Run tote services during live racing
  • Complete and submit weekly reports

I install and service wiring for security systems, home automation, audio, video, network, cable and telephone. We deal with a wide range of products and technologies to ensure the right fit for each customer.
